Hey Arborg! Let's lead the charge on banning plastic bags in our town.

We are hoping to ban plastic bags in Arborg.  Plastic bags are a problem.  Based on stats posted by the Parliament of Canada the average Canadian times the population of Arborg estimates over 100,000 plastic bags are used and discarded per year in Arborg alone!  Banning plastic bags in Manitoba is a popular rising trend.  Already, Thompson, The Pas, Leaf Rapids, and Snow Lake have introduced and enforced bans on plastic bags making it illegal for shops to provide bags free of charge.  Mayor Brian Bowman and the Minister of Sustainability in MB have also been tweeting regarding finding a solution.   This will soon be province wide with help from rural municipalities.

Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide.  Let's be part of the rising trend of towns in Manitoba and hail ourselves as a progressive community that is part of the solution, not the problem.
