JAPAN STOP THE IVORY TRADE

JAPAN STOP THE IVORY TRADE

We supports the efforts of the Japan Tiger and Elephant Fund, a non-profit and non-governmental organisation working in Japan that contributes to the conservation of wildlife.
If Japan continues its policy to register undocumented elephant tusks, thousands of visitors will be able to purchase ivory hanko and other ivory products at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
In March 2022 the African Elephant Coalition appealed to CITES asking the trade regulator to persuade Japan to close its ivory markets.
In 2016 a recommendation was adopted to close ivory markets in ivory-consuming countries such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, China, the United States and Japan.
Japan was singled out as a country that had done nothing to close its ivory markets.
We want to pressurize Japan to close their domestic ivory market.
