Stop UCSF Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center from reneging on Premier members parking!

This petition had 593 supporters

UCSF Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center has sent out notices to all their "Premier" gym members that they will no longer provide for 3 hours parking as part of their Premier membership package.  When joining the Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center, they would up-sell prospective gym members a "Premier" membership (more costly membership) as it provides for unlimited Group X classes, shower and pool towel service, and three hours of free validated parking daily at Mission Bay.  Starting July 1, 2017, Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center has announced Premier members will no longer have the 3 hours free parking included in their membership.  In its place, we will get "discounted parking" which can easily add $1,660-2,000 to a Premier member annual gym membership expenses.  This is totally outrageous and breach of our membership agreement!  The reneging of 3 hours free parking will cause financial hardship for 99% of the members--especially those on fixed income and elderly.  Many of us have been members before the gym opened.  A website called "Premier Members Unite" has been created to spread the word out to whom Premier members may contact regarding this outrageous treatment.

Why are UCSF Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center pricing out seniors, those on fixed-income, and neighborhood community?

A few decision-makers Premier members have been writing to Gail Onishi-Mamestuka, Sam HawgoodJanet Napolitano, and Governor Brown.

We asked that all Premier members sign this petition to let Bakar Fitness know how this parking decision will affect us, e.g., financially, health, community belonging, and breach of the membership agreement.

Today, we have over 500 signers to this petition.  does this resonant to Bakar Fitness & Recreation Center?  No.  In the first week, we gathered 100 signatures.

One of Bakar Fitness argument is the need for parity, how is their equity amongst seniors, the disabled or community members when they are on a fixed income and there is a hefty discount for UCSF Affiliates, employees, UCSF students, and staff.   Many of them have already sacrificed their neighborhood quiet enjoyment to the onslaught of UCSF invasion under the disguise of wanting to be a "good neighbor."

As a true "village" member (Bakar Fitness Center management), we ask that current Premier membership be grandfathered with their current parking agreement (not every Premier member drive) and moving forward, new Premier members will not have the same parking rights as grandfathered Premier members.
