Hello all you lovely people! I just wanted to bring you up to speed with the Food Revolution Day campaign and fill you in on some new initiatives I’m starting up. We have now got over 1.6 million signatures on the FRD petition and have reached EVERY country in the world. I am so grateful to you all for signing up and sending such a strong message to the politicians that it is their responsibility to act now and legislate to give every child the right to Food Education. We are continuing our Global campaign and are getting much closer to getting this vitally important issue taken up by the G20 to create a global conversation. But this week in the we are also launching a new more targeted campaign and trying to lobby the Government to introduce a Sugar Tax on all soft drinks with added sugar. Its already been done in Mexico and France with over $1billion dollars being raised to support preventative and educational initiatives. The first evaluation of the tax is also indicating a marked reduction in consumption.      So I have decided to lead the way and bring in a Sugar Tax in my own restaurants and invite food outlets across the UK to join me. I believe that we can show the Government that a Sugar Tax can work and could be a huge benefit in the fight against Childhood and Adult obesity across the UK. All the money raised will go into The Children’s Health Fund which will support food and health education projects for children across the country.   If you want to find out more please tune in and watch at 9pm on Thursday 3rd September on Channel Four - JAMIE’S SUGAR RUSH.
