Campaign Update and News

Dear Supporter,

The campaign to save the Vietnamese bilingual program at Footscray Primary has gathered an enormous energy of support. Thank you! 

Although the School Leadership, the Minister and the Department have continued to ignore the diverse voices that have called for education that reflects community languages, the campaign has heard you crystal clear. To quote a petition supporter:

By saying we "can't find an appropriately qualified Vietnamese teacher" is what has been said to women, Indigenous people, and members of many minority groups, forever. It is time to stop this. Vietnamese people, communities, languages and cultures are crucial to Australia's history and present.

We will honour your support through an initiative that will continue to engage community in calling for Vietnamese bilingual education in Melbourne’s west. An exciting launch of this effort will be announced shortly!
