Thank you for your support. Please ask your friends to sign up too. It will help to persuade the authorities to tackle the real problems, including Cross Street. By the way someone suggested these campaigns are to collect email addresses. Change.org sends out this message and we have no access to your details. Here is a letter to the local papers sent this morning - maybe a bit late for this week's edition thanks to "other things". Dear Editor Our MP has launched a petition for a bypass while others call for better roads and amenities in Sudbury. The main aim of the Business Plan for a Sudbury Relief road is to improve the strategic lorry network by linking A131 from Halstead to the A134 to Bury St Edmunds. It says it will relieve the A12, A14 and M11. Two miles of new road will cut through historic landscape to a bridge over the Belchamp Brook. There will an embankment across the water meadows between Brundon and Borley with a bridge over the Stour. The report says the impact will be "large adverse", jargon for catastrophic. Is this the best way to spend £40 million on improving the flow of traffic in and around Sudbury? Would 60% of the HGVs in Sudbury use the bypass? Is it really true the road would "largely resolve the congestion problems in the town"? Should we violate our heritage sites? If you think the answers are "Yes" please go the Town Hall and sign the petition, if you are not so sure please sign our online petition, "Sudbury needs better roads not a bypass to ruin our water meadows" at goo.gl/PUaTVp.
