In summer 2018 we launched the #Izzyconcert2018 petition so fans could say to Izzy: “We’re here ready to support you 100% if you wanted to do something solo; no pressure”.
It was supposed to be a short-lived thing, a bit of a fun fan campaign to see if Izzy might be cheered on towards a new song/video/livestream/concert.
By the end of 2018 though we had cracked two thousand signatures from over 30 countries – one of the biggest communities of Izzy fans ever gathered together.
We’ve had our detractors (how does that attitude help anybody, hmm?) but that doesn’t stop our numbers from growing, and today we’re STILL HERE and now up to 2,500 signatures – every single one of them so precious and so special.
Thank you #TeamIzzy for playing a part in this little bit of Izzy’s wonderful story x
A few top highlights of the past year (2019-2020) in our Izzy world then:
- The Izzy Stradlin Appreciation Group on Facebook has been growing nice n steady in our first year, we’re getting close to 400 members now. Every Monday we have a random pick of Izzy songs to discuss (we’re now on Week 68 of about 130); and every other Friday we have a fun quiz aka ‘Quizzy’, and we chat for an hour about whatever Izzy news is going (there’s usually something or other), and that’s up to the 63rd edition. You're so welcome to come along. Message me if you have any problems joining. Here’s the link to find us: click/tap here
- “Dust N Bones - The Story So Far”, the nearly two-hour documentary on the life and times of Izzy Stradlin, lasted on YouTube for the sum total of one day last month. Most of us saw that coming, didn’t we, and bunkered down to watch the premiere together, which was well worth it. If you happened to miss it though, follow G on Twitter at @AyewisLife to find out if/when/where he’ll be able to show it again
- For Izzy’s 58th birthday a bunch of Izzy fans from Venezuela to the UK, from the US to India, from Germany to Sweden, connected up to perform “Feelin’ Alright”, physically distanced covid-19 style of course. Check out our chopped and sliced video here: https://youtu.be/s7nOUYjU2L4
I guess I'll see you all again in another 12 months or so, just to check in and say hello (unless something major happens before then).
Take care until then, and please, as Izzy tweeted back on 8 April: "Stay safe !"
Love, Carlene
