Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've updated and we have now reached over 39,000 signatures, so we have lots of new overseas fans joining us, with series 2 currently being shown on PBS. The first book will continue on right from the end of series 2 and will take the characters on through the war. This move from TV to book hasn't been done in the UK, as far as we know, so it's a great achievement for the campaign we have run right from the cancellation of the show. Simon Block was so moved by the outpouring of love for the show and being as gutted by the cancellation of the show as we all were, he succeeded in securing a 3 book publishing deal from Bonnier Zaffre. Of course, we all wanted the series to continue on TV but we, as a campaign, tried everything we could. The producers did all they could to get Home Fires another home on another channel, but sadly it didn't work. I assure you that all channels being suggested to us (Netflix and Amazon) were both approached by us, and in a professional manner by the programme makers, and all attempts were unsuccessful. We know many of you newcomers will be feeling the anger, disbelief and upset that we all were a year ago, so we know how you feel. But I assure you everything that could be tried was tried. To get a better idea of what the campaign has done over the past year, please have a look round our wonderful website created by Jess Taylor: www.savehomefires.com So to move the campaign on in a positive direction, we ask as many of you as possible to support and get behind Simon Block and the novels. His love of the characters is as strong as ours and he is really enjoying continuing those stories in this new way. We understand not all of you are readers (there will be an audio book released for those who have trouble with reading or who enjoy to listen to stories) but we would love as many of you as possible to share the wonderful news and help make these books a success. Who knows what's to come if the books were a huge success?! At the very least it would put yet more egg on the face of ITV and give them more proof that they made a terrible decision cancelling such a popular show. The books will first be released as e books, in 4 parts, starting in July 2017. The full paperback and e book will then be available from October 2017. The as yet unnamed 2nd book will then be released in Spring 2018.
