2015 March 16 -- Will Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito face long prison sentences despite their innocence? A team of world-class experts in law enforcement, DNA, and forensics are outraged that these two innocent people were provisionally re-convicted in 2014. Knox and Sollecito were sentenced to 28 1/2 and 25 years in prison, respectively, although the evidence shows them innocent without any doubt. They now face potential confirmation of the conviction. On March 25, 2015, The Corte Suprema di Cassazione (CSC) will conduct a hearing in Rome on the case against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito for the November 1, 2007 murder in Perugia, Italy of Meredith Kercher, an Erasmus student from England. Investigations by Injustice in Perugia (IIP) and others prove that Knox and Sollecito are completely innocent of the murder. The alleged evidence against them has been systematically discredited; reliable evidence demonstrates their innocence. Overwhelming evidence shows that the actual murderer, Rudy Guede, acted alone. The January 2014 Nencini re-conviction resurrected the same discredited evidence that motivated the October 2011 Hellmann acquittal. By then Knox and Sollecito had each suffered nearly four years in prison before being released. Following the prosecution’s appeal, the acquittal was quashed by the March 2013 Corte Suprema di Cassazione. The case shows a pattern of official misconduct violating Italian law, the Italian constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. An international group of advocates has initiated a petition on Change.org directed to the Italian Ministry of Justice and the appropriate UK and US government offices requesting them to investigate the activities of the Perugian law enforcement authorities and the 2007 consular staffs following the Meredith Kercher murder. You can view the petition here: http://tinyurl.com/qdl5hyj To reveal the true evidence, IIP has developed www.AmandaKnoxCase.com which provides court transcripts, detailed analyses and additional information. Many thanks to Injustice in Perugia for their invaluable support over the years, you can find this and other press releases on the IIP Press Page. http://www.injusticeinperugia.org/PressInquiries.html
