The voice of the people is the voice of change

It's been an eventful few days since the petition was launched on Tuesday. 

As the petition grew momentum along with international pressure, Francis Kean stepped down as Chair of the Fiji Rugby on Thursday. The decision was announced as "a rotation from the FRU Board as per the Fiji Rugby Constitution."

Kean remains as Commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service and we will continue to push for an investigation into FCS as per the demands of this petition.

As Saturday drew closer, there was no indication from FCS or FRU whether Nasilasila would play for Namosi in the Skipper Cup match against Tailevu. Namosi went to play without Nasilasila in sight beating Tailevu by 19-6.

Then last night World Rugby released a statement saying they "do not condone any person convicted of a serious crime and currently serving their sentence undertaking any official rugby activities under Union jurisdiction." 

This is a STRONG statement from the world governing body of rugby union. It means that no convicted offender will ever take part in Fiji Rugby sanctioned events while they are still serving their sentence.

This is a huge victory as one of our demands has been met!

We all made this happen together by raising our voices. The voice of the people is the voice of change.

It’s not over yet! We still have other demands to be met so let's build on the momentum.

Let's encourage other Fijians to join the movement for justice and accountability and work towards ending rape culture and violence against women and girls.
