Petition updateCentral Coast Council: Establish an Urban Forest Strategy for the Central Coast25,000 trees for Hornsby, but only 1,500 tube stock for the Central Coast

G.U.S.T (Grow Urban Shade Trees)
Jul 21, 2018
Yesterday one of our supporters shared with us the news that Hornsby Council has committed to planting 25,000 trees before 2020 (that’s a year and a half away, by the way!).
You may have read in this week’s Central Coast Express Advocate that here on the Coast, our urban canopy creation commitment is a meagre 1,500 TUBE STOCK plants...and these are for private property only.
Vastly different headlines, and if ever we needed a reminder of why we need to continue our engagement with the Council, we have it here.
By signing our petition, you’re helping show that Central Coast Residents value trees just as much as Hornsby residents.
By sharing it, you can help us achieve our goal and make this a bigger and more urgent agenda item.
The Urban Forest Strategy is on the table at Council, but we think it’s becoming an excuse to put off action.
When GUST meets with Mayor Jane Smith in September we’ll be asking if our residents deserve shade as much as Hornsby residents do.
