IST is planning to move all undergraduates to a new email address, retroactively, that will not be a @uwaterloo.ca email. Not only were students not consulted on this huge change, we are only being given a week to 'suggest' a new domain name. There are numerous issues with this, including:

• Emails will only be forwarded from your old email address for 18 months
• Many online services offer student discounts and free student subscriptions with a @uwaterloo.ca email, not a @wordsmashuwaterloo.ca email, or a @wordsmash.uwaterloo.ca 
• @uwaterloo.ca emails already have name recognition. Many UWaterloo students are part of the co-op program, where professionalism is important from even first term
• Students were not consulted on this change, despite it directly affecting us
