Please let Iron Gate Café know, CDTA bus shelter or not, you will continue to patron them

Please sign this petition affirming that you will continue to patron Iron Gate Cafe, even if the the proposed bus changes go into effect.  While the owners do not feel the proposed changes will be an asset, and believe their clientele will abandon them with a new shelter, I think its important for the community to let them know this will not be the case.

As an avid user of CDTA's buses, I save thousands a year, which provides me with a lot of pocket change to spend at businesses like Iron Gate Cafe.  Buses are a key way for me to conveniently get around town, while reducing my impact on the environment, with the Center Square Neighborhood being a frequent stop each week (coffee at Iron Gate in the morning, beer at Brew in the evening, or dinner at any number of fine establishments).  I believe their proposed changes will add convenience to my commute, free up vehicular traffic at the current bus stop locations, improve pedestrian safety through the proposed mid-block crosswalk option, and enhance walkability in a residentially and commercially rich part of Albany.  The neighborhood, and Iron Gate specifically, will be able to capitalize off of the proposals.

No doubt, the broader community should be able to sit with CDTA and discuss the proposals, ensure they are sound and consider any issues (maybe a Parisian inspired shelter to compliment the historic facade of Iron Gate), and CDTA must step up to the plate.  But in the meantime, I encourage everyone, whether they are against, but especially if they are for, to visit their local businesses (and if it's Iron Gate, make sure to purchase the biggest cup of Joe they sell) and express how the proposed changes would effect their ability to patron them and how important mass transit is to the fabric of this part of the city.

If you have another moment to spare, please share comments (in support or in concern of the proposed) to CDTA (http://www.cdta.org/contact-form) or Center Square Association (centersquarealbany@gmail.com)
