It's high time we retired the racially and culturally insensitive "Redmen" mascot at Cedar High School in Utah. (Here is one decidedly tongue-in-cheek argument for the change.)

Of course, change bewilders and frightens people. So I'm offering up a more appropriate and authentic mascot. Just to spark the imagination.

Cedar High School. Home of the White Folks.

The beauty of it? The mascot changes, but CHS students and alumni can still feel the satisfaction of reducing an entire people down to their skin color using an insensitive, one-dimensional label! Win-win.

White Folks has a really nice ring to it, too. It's catchy. Way catchier than, say, the Mountaineers or the Prairie Dogs or the Bucks (deer hunting is a big thing in Cedar, right?).

And it's a lot better than the Massacerers, which I admit is pretty fearsome and historically accurate, but ultimately a very bad idea.

Anyway. Let's do this! Thanks and fingers crossed for White Folks!
