Greyhound owner/trainer Raymond Hamilton Jnr. has been fined €5,000 after prohibited substances 19-norepiandrosterone and 19-noretiocholanolone were detected in greyhound Long Spartacus after a race at Lifford track on 24th August 2024.
According to a Greyhound Racing Control Committee report, "evidence [was] given in an Investigation Report Form furnished by Mr. Hamilton Jnr in which he outlined that he did not knowingly administer a prohibitive substance to the greyhound Long Spartacus but stated he accepts responsibility as the greyhound was in his care."
The Greyhound Racing Control Committee "also sent a warning and admonition to Mr. Raymond Hamilton Jnr in relation to his management, control, ownership and training of greyhounds going forward."
The Greyhound Racing Ireland website shows that Derry-based Raymond Hamilton Jnr has had 43 recorded race entries to-date, including 15 entries and 3 wins in 2025.
GRI lists two greyhounds "currently trained by Raymond Hamilton Jnr (NI)". They are Carakeel Express and Bartlemy Soldier.
Bartlemy Soldier (owned by Damian Bird) tested positive for 19-Norepiandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone, 5a-estran-3B, 17B-diol and 5a-estran-3B, 17a-diol following a race at Lifford track on April 5th 2025. On the day, the greyhound finished last.
Bartlemy Soldier was most recently raced on 14 June 2025 at Lifford track, finishing third. On the same day, Carakeel Express (owned by Raymond Hamilton Jnr) finished second in a race at Lifford track.
