What a shame to see a children's playground group organising a fundraiser at a greyhound track where dogs suffer and die.
Clonoulty-Rossmore playground in Tipperary has announced a “fundraiser to replace the swings in our playground” which is due to take place at Thurles greyhound track next week.
Parents are being encouraged to bring their children to the gambling venue with the promise of face painting on the night.
Sickening Greyhound Racing Ireland statistics show that in the past nine years at Thurles track, 115 greyhounds suffered injuries and 51 died or were killed by a track vet. In the first six months of 2024, eleven greyhounds were injured at the track and six of them were killed (they had suffered fractured wrist, fractured/broken hocks, broken hind metatarsals and a broken leg).
At tracks around Ireland since 2014, 3,485 greyhounds have been injured and 1,290 killed in racing.
ACTION ALERT
Please join us in urging Clonoulty-Rossmore playground group to show compassion for the dogs and choose a different venue for its fundraiser.
