Caged Nationwide is reporting that "Irish born and raced greyhound Shaneboy Jasper is still being used as a breeding machine in China".
A photograph posted on Facebook this week shows the white and black dog next to an unnamed female greyhound whose mouth has been tied shut https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=318106653676526&set=a.303033811850477
Despite it being highlighted nearly two years ago that Shaneboy Jasper is now in China, there is no indication of the export on the Greyhound Racing Ireland website. https://www.grireland.ie/results/greyhound-search/greyhound-details/?gid=SHANEBOY%20JASPER
Caged Nationwide, previously reported that Shaneboy Jasper “was exported to the Chinese breeding kennels in Zhangwu County in November 2018”.
According to the GRI website, Shaneboy Jasper was raced at Shelbourne Park and Newbridge tracks between June and August 2018, with €1,790 in prizemoney.
The Irish Government has been urged to take action to stop the direct or indirect export of dogs to China. There are no animal welfare laws in China, fuelling fears that Irish dogs suffer and face horrendous fates after they are used for racing and breeding. Previous videos from China have shown a greyhound being boiled alive in a barrel and an individual slamming a greyhound into the ground after the dog failed to win races.
