A big THANK YOU to Ireland Before You Die for removing greyhound racing from its website.

Ireland Before You Die - “the biggest Irish travel and culture website [which] highlights the most inspiring experiences Ireland has to offer” - had presented information about greyhound racing on its site, including an article which encouraged readers to visit Shelbourne Park stadium in Dublin.

This has now been removed following an appeal from the Irish Council Against Blood Sports which highlighted the cruelty and killing in greyhound racing, the injuries and deaths at tracks and the fact that national tourism bodies Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland have both stopped promoting greyhound racing due to fears that it damages Ireland's reputation as a tourist destination.

A spokesperson for Ireland Before You Die responded: “We had no idea the level of cruelty that greyhound racing supported...and will be removing all mentions of greyhound racing from our site immediately. Furthermore, we will not be promoting it again in the future.”

Thumbs up to Ireland Before You Die for its compassionate response. Its website, which aims to “inspire every person in the world to visit Ireland at least once in their lifetime”, can be found at https://www.irelandbeforeyoudie.com/

Ireland Before You Die is the latest in a growing list of those who have rejected greyhound racing, including Air France (which removed Irish greyhound racing from 44 of its international websites), Toyota Ireland, Opel Ireland, Heineken Ireland/Murphy's, Dublin Bus, Eir Sport, Tesco Ireland, Electric Ireland, Applegreen, Barry's Tea, Hyde Irish Whiskey, Galway Crystal, FBD Insurance, Botanica International, Voucher Cloud, Permanent TSB, Maldron Hotels, Clayton Hotels, North Star Hotel Dublin, Metropole Hotel Cork, Treacy's Hotel Waterford, Trip Indicator, In Your Pocket City Guides, Food For Thought (the official publication of the Restaurants Association of Ireland), Hertz, Galway Tourism, Tramore.ie, Dublin Convention Bureau, etc.
