There are renewed calls on the government to shut down greyhound tracks after more shocking Irish Greyhound Board video footage emerged showing breaches of the COVID19 2-metre social distancing advice.
Official Government/HSE guidance clearly states: “Avoid close contact with people - keep a distance of 2 metres (6.5 feet) between you and others”
In a letter to Taoiseach Micheal Martin and Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, ICABS stated: “The IGB has claimed that 'social distancing [would] be fully observed at all times' but this is certainly not happening. This cannot be allowed to continue. In the interests of public safety and doing everything possible to slow the spread of COVID 19, it is imperative for you to order the closure of greyhound tracks”
The latest images are further to similar scenes in March before tracks were told to shut down. See https://www.flickr.com/photos/icabs/albums/72157713579485482
