Delivered, Destroyed, Dumped: 6,000 greyhounds are mercilessly killed every year in Ireland's nasty greyhound industry because they're too slow to win.
In this horrendous scene from the RTE Investigates programme, we see one of these unfortunate dogs. He is dragged into a knackery, shot in the head and writhes on the ground in agony. The collar is pulled from his neck and returned to the heartless owner who is waiting in a nearby vehicle. As he drives away, the dog slowly dies before being removed and dumped into a skip.
This shameful dog-killing industry must not be allowed to continue. Contact the government NOW to demand a full and permanent withdrawal of all state funding and a ban on greyhound racing. Not a single cent more of public funds should be diverted into greyhound racing. Since 2001, it has received a quarter of a billion euros of taxpayers' money, including €16.8 million for 2019. NO MORE.
