In early November Ireland’s Sinn Fein party will debate a motion at its annual conference that calls on the party to back a ban on the cruel practice of hare coursing.

At present the party’s official policy is to defend and support hare coursing, but many of its members are now pressing for the scrapping of this abhorrent position, especially  now that Sinn Fein looks poised to enter government in Ireland with the next two or three years.

Please ask Sinn Fein politicians and members to back the “Ban Hare Coursing” motion at its conference.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I understand that Sinn Fein will shortly consider a motion at its Ard Fheis (annual conference) that calls for a ban on the cruel practice of hare coursing in Ireland.

As you know, this activity involves the capture of thousands of hares every year in the Irish countryside for use as live bait. They are forced to run from pairs of hyped-up greyhounds and many of them are mauled or otherwise injured. And coursing continues despite threats to the Irish Hare as a species, such as widespread habitat loss and the highly contagious RHD 2 disease that is killing hares and can be spread by coursing activities.

Please make history by supporting the “Ban Hare Coursing” motion at your Ard Fheis (annual conference this year.
