Dear supporters of Maryam Moghadam & Behtash Sanaeeha,

We want to thank you most emphatically on behalf of our two filmmaker friends in Iran! Your support over the past few weeks has meant the world to them, and we are glad to see our petition has now reached over 4,750 signatures from all over the world.

As you may have seen, the list now includes such film luminaries as Mohammad Rasoulof, Hiam Abbass, Pedro Almodóvar, Juliette Binoche, Jafar Panahi, Laura Poitras, Joachim Trier, Céline Sciamma and Ali Abbasi; as well as big film institutions such as IDFA and the European Film Academy and the film festivals of Rotterdam, Berlin, Venice, Cannes, Sydney and Locarno. Thank you to all!

In addition to this international petition, there has also been a petition effort within Iran, spearheaded by My Favourite Cake lead actress Lily Farhadpour, which has also reached over 6,000 signatures already. These efforts have been covered in recent days by publications such as The New York Times, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

All of this has not gone unnoticed. Maryam & Behtash's trial has officially begun last Saturday March 1, and although most of the developments have to remain confidential for legal reasons, the filmmakers have let us know that the prosecution is very much aware of the surge of national and international support for them; hopefully this will prove to be of positive impact on the outcome of the trial.

We keep rooting for Maryam & Behtash, and we urge you to keep up your support & keep sharing the petition whenever and however you can.
