I wish this update wasn't necessary. There is a group working to defeat the school project, with the goal of keeping Winthrop at any cost. They have returned to the argument that 2 small schools are superior to one combined school, claiming that they know what is best for the Doyon community. Preserving their "village" takes precedence over community, equity, and an educational plan 4 years in the making. If this infuriates you, as it does me, please join the OneIpswich group and share the facts about the school project: http://www.oneipswich.org/ There is no other plan. A YES vote at May 8 Town Meeting moves the project forward. A NO vote means years of financial bandaids on undersized and deteriorating school.
