Vision panel reject petition outright

Further to our last update, despite a promising conversation with David Ellesmere, we have now received an official response from the Vision Panel who have rejected our petition and intend to go full steam ahead with the design as is. This shows a lack of consideration for a huge number of the public and other consultation bodies, who have over the course of this project, urged the Vision team to rethink the scheme. One of the Vision mission statements from 2015 was “If it is to succeed, the Ipswich Vision.. Must be connected and anchored by...emotion… people must, see feel, contribute to and understand the changes as they happen around them and be inspired by them”. If only the public had been given a real choice and a decent set of options on this project, there would have been far more emotional connection to it. Whilst petition instigator Dan Lansley is fully occupied in his Sandhurst training and I am now bowing out, another gallant citizen has stepped forward to see whether this can be taken any further, so we will update this petition page if there are further developments. The open debate on the Cornhill can be continued on the dedicated Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Suspend-and-review-the-36-million-changes-to-the-Ipswich-Cornhill-522466751468549/ Thank you to everyone who took part in this petition, it's reassuring to know not everyone is as apathetic as the powers that be assume we are. Even if it is the end of the line… the pigeons will surely have the final say on those ghastly monoliths!
