We have hit 201 signatures, but now we need ANSWERS. While the media and local agencies continue to blame the "behavior" of the vulnerable for why they are on the street, we need to start asking a different question: Where is the money actually going? The Financial Web
Every year, millions of dollars in federal and state funding flow into Monmouth and Essex Counties. This money is meant for "Homelessness Prevention," but as we see every day, people are still being turned away.
• The Hotel Hustle: Why are millions being paid to private hotels to provide "temporary" shelter that never leads to permanent housing? Who owns these hotels, and what is their relationship with the agencies that place people there?
• The Agency Loop: There is a web of non-profits and government-contracted agencies receiving massive grants. If they are "getting the funding," why is the answer always "there’s no room" or "you don't qualify"?
No More Excuses
We are tired of hearing there is "no money" to help a mother and her child, while corporations and hotel owners are getting fat off of government checks. It’s time to research the money trail. * How many agencies are affiliated with these specific hotels?
• Why is it more "profitable" to keep someone in a hotel room for months than to put them in an affordable home?
• Who is auditing these "service providers" to see if the money is actually reaching the people?
Humanity Over Profit
The system is designed to treat us like a "case number" to be managed, not a human being to be housed. They profit off our suffering. They use our faces to ask for more funding, then close the door when we actually show up for help.
STOP listening to the media narrative that says this is our fault. This is a failure of leadership and a lack of transparency. We are demanding a deep dive into the financial affiliations of every agency claiming to "help" the homeless in NJ.
Sign and share this like our lives depend on it—because the truth is the only thing that will break this cycle.
