Friends and Supporters,
I am writing this today because I believe in us. Lately, I have been speaking some hard truths about race, injustice, and the "labels" that are used to categorize our lives. Some have called these "rants," but I call them a reality check. These aren't just words; they are the lived experiences of a mother, a neighbor, and a human being who—just like you—only wants a safe and fair world for her family.
We are living in a time where it feels easier to point out our differences than to acknowledge our shared pain. We see labels like race, income, disability, and sexuality being used as walls to divide us. But here is the truth that we often forget: We all bleed the same. We all breathe the same air. And we are all hurting under the same broken systems.
When my 16-year-old and my family endured a traumatizing incident of racism recently, it wasn't just a "political" moment. It was a human moment. It was a reminder that when one of us is devalued, our entire community loses a piece of its soul.
Our only hope is unity. I am asking you today to help me tear down these "chains of labels." Let’s stop looking at each other as boxes to be checked and start looking at each other as neighbors with shared dreams and shared struggles. We cannot fix our communities if we are too busy fighting each other to see the hands reached out for help.
Thank you for standing with me. Let’s choose humanity over division. Let’s work for a world where our children don't have to "prove" their worth, but are born into a community that already knows it.
With hope and determination
