1,635 People Have Spoken — Our Families Deserve Accountability

🚨 1,635 SIGNATURES. ❤️

I don't think I can adequately explain what seeing that number means to me.

This journey has already taken enough from me. More than enough. And I know there are other parents and families who understand exactly what I mean when I say that.

I didn't wake up one day and decide that child welfare reform would become something I would fight for. Life brought me here.

My own experience forced me to learn about a system I never imagined would become such a huge part of my life. I've spent years asking questions, reading records, reviewing documents, fighting to be heard, and trying to understand decisions that changed my family forever.

So when I say accountability is mandatory, those aren't just words to me.

I know personally what it feels like when decisions carrying lifelong consequences are made about your child and your family. I know what it feels like to search for answers and believe that the information in front of you does not tell the whole story. And I know how powerless a parent can feel when the very system making those decisions is also the system you're asking to examine your concerns.

That is why accountability matters.

Not because every social worker is bad. Not because every agency decision is wrong. Not because children don't sometimes need protection.

They absolutely do.

But because no system with the power to change a child's life forever should operate without meaningful checks, accurate records, transparency, due process, and a way to address mistakes when they happen.

Protecting children and holding systems accountable should never be treated as opposing ideas.

This fight has cost me enough personally. And I've heard from other parents who feel that their families have paid an enormous price, too.

That's why I refuse to let everything I've been through amount to nothing.

If my experience can help start a conversation that makes the system more transparent for the next parent, strengthens protections for the next child, or helps prevent another family from feeling unheard, then I will keep using my voice.

And apparently, I'm not using it alone anymore.

1,635 people have signed.

1,635 people have stopped long enough to say this conversation matters.

To every single person who signed, shared, reached out, encouraged me, or trusted me with your own story — thank you.

You have no idea what watching this grow has meant to me.

This started from one of the most painful chapters of my life.

Maybe something meaningful can still grow from it.

I started with one voice.
Today, there are 1,635.
And we're not finished. ❤️
