For too long Kingston Park Play Area has been left to ruin. It's unsafe and not fit for purpose.
So many families in Kingston Park need this space. Outdoor play is so important for children and for many, this is the only accessible nearby space for them.
In the 90s and early 00s, I used to come to this park as a child and it was amazing back then and it's so sad to see what it's become now that I'm a mother using the space with my own children.
For a while there were plans to resite and rebuild the area but the council never completed it.

I'm aware the council have plans to invest in parks across Newcastle in the next few years but have not included Kingston Park within their plans.
It would be great to raise the importance of Kingston Park Play Area to our local community, especially given the amazing transport links and the newly improved shopping area bringing in more footfall.
Moving the park closer to the community centre could improve the security of the park, and also building it with the intention to prevent vandalism. Vandalism happens everywhere but other parks have better protections in place. Our community is growing and our children deserve a safe, welcoming outdoor play space.
