Hi everyone,

Thanks again for signing our petition to introduce fair limits on HMOs in Cambridge. Writing to give you a quick update on the campaign so far.

  • We've now attracted 90 signatures to the Cambridge City Council e-petition we've set up, so that we can trigger a full debate on this issue by the council. We need to get 500 signatures to do that, so if you live, work or study in Cambridge, please head over to that petition and sign it (if you haven't already).  here's the link: https://democracy.cambridge.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=112&RPID=449506431&HPID=449506431 - we are 18% of the way there already!
  • Donna was interviewed on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire talking about this issue earlier this week.

Here's the link if you want to listen (fast forward to 1 hour 43 minutes) : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002wk5c

  • Several people have shared the petition on Nextdoor -  and some are helping to get this post trending.
  • People have got in touch across Cambridge to say it is an issue for them, including from Newnham, Romsey, Cherry Hinton and Queen's Edith's, as well as Petersfield
  • We have been emailing councillors and asking them to support the campaign
  • We are planning to print and distribute some leaflets locally to try to attract more signatures
  • We are asking everyone to share a new 'tiny URL' for the petition: www.tinyurl.com/CambridgeHMOPetition and share the QR code to the petition in this email

Thanks again for all your support

Donna
