A woman who was seen strangling her puppy because she was fed up with it destroying her belongings has been handed a suspended jail sentence. SUSPENDED!
Lani Beattie, 23, was filmed by a passerby standing over 'lifeless' Roxy in the backyard of her Beckenham home on October 13 last year.
The witness called police and RSPCA after seeing the one-year-old dog tied to a carport pole with a rope around her neck.
They told The West they heard the staffy-kelpie cross puppy as it yelped, screamed, choked and struggled.
The witness reportedly also saw Beattie strangling Roxy with a second rope before suspending the puppy by the neck as she tried to escape.
Beattie told police she didn't want Roxy anymore because the dog was 'chewing up all my s***' and frustrated her.
Roxy was left with bruising, swelling, bleeding in her right eye, and behaviour consistent with psychological harm, examinations at a vet revealed.
She has since recovered after being removed from Beattie's care and rehomed by RSPCA.
