Let Hawai'i Into the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics As the Founding Nation of Surfing !
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics will include Surfing as an Olympic Demonstration Sport, an historic milestone for the sport of surfing. Yet the International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not, at this time, recognize Hawai'i (The Hawaiian Kingdom) as a competing Olympic Nation even though Hawai'i is the nation that originated the sport of surfing thousands of years ago and which has since shared the aloha of the sport of surfing with millions of now avid surfers from every corner of the globe.
It is very possible, at this time, that surfing will debut at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics without the hosting participation and representation of Hawai'i - The Hawaiian Kingdom, as the founding nation of the sport of surfing. There are early indications that Hawai'i's best surfers may be made to compete on the USA Olympic Surfing Team despite the fact that Hawai'i surfers have ALWAYS competed as Hawaiians, proud native surfers of the Nation of Hawai'i practicing their national sport.
As Hawaiian surfers and keiki i ke kai who find great pride in the heritage and legacy of surfing left to us by our kupuna we cannot allow this travesty to occur !
As the Director of the Hawaiian Kingdom National Olympic Committee (HKNOC), a non profit organization formed under the laws of the Hawaiian Kingdom Constitution as required by the Olympic Charter, I am presently lobbying the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the International Surfing Association (ISA), the official Olympic Federation for the Sport of Surfing, and its participating partner organization The World Surf League (WSL) to allow the HKNOC to be recognized as the National Olympic Committee for the Hawaiian Kingdom (Hawai'i) and to represent Hawai'i as the founding host nation and a participating Olympic Demonstration Sport team for the sport of surfing at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
I'm humbly asking every surfer and lover of surfing to sign this petition to the IOC, ISA and WSL to insure that Hawai'i is properly represented as the founding and participating host of the sport of surfing in the Olympic games.
Please sign and share this petition with your friends so that Hawai'i will receive the respect it deserves as the origin of the sport of surfing and the ability to compete and participate in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics as the founder and origin of surfing and a great nation of athletes in every sport. mahalo piha.
