Congenital Anomalies are known to be birth defects. Kids born with such problems are not been considered by any of the insurance companies as per IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority). The increasing health issues throughout the country and that too new born babies undergoes such critical health problem must undergo a huge medical expenditure for treatment. Considering the medical costs, not only the BPL families but also middle and upper middle class people suffer equally.
Parents undergo such a trauma and night mare every single day seeing their new born babies suffering and dying with these diseases. These children require special attention and medical care that involves regular checkup, medicines and critical operations. Our government must seriously consider these concerns. Every child must be treated special with care, let come together to decide the fate of our children’s by gifting them a new life.
As per Indian express article in 2014, Every year 1.5 lakh infants are born in India with congenital heart disease and merely 78000 infants die of congenital heart disease.
As per TOI article, Every year around 5 lakh infants with congenital defects are born in the country and about 1.3 lakh of them die for want of treatment.
What is expected?
- Free medical treatment across all specialize hospitals Govt and Private.
- Every child must get free treatment irrespective to defined classes like BPL, Lower, Middle and Higher.
- Government must support the hospitals treating these kids with quality medical care.
- Congenital Anomalies must be included in Medical Insurance defined by IRDA.
