On the 8th February 2023, the Home Secretary James Cleverly announced that there will be ‘new powers for police to arrest protesters wearing mask to hide their identity’. He stated ‘mask will be banned at protests under laws to be introduced in the wake of protest following Palestinian Demonstrations’. 

The Government don’t like the fact that protesters came to London hiding their identity behind a mask and we the general public don’t like the fact that gang members wear mask amongst us on our streets either. 

In the wake of the amount of deaths caused from knife crime all across the UK, mask should be banned in public areas. Not only are they intimidating and threatening but they are presenting to be a danger.
