Hi all

Thanks for signing.  We now have 207 signatures with many more needed.

Here's a few figures if you have time to read them. According to NRMA Insurance there has been 12,100 animal collision claims in 2024 on national roads.  Beyond vehicle damage, NRMA data analysis suggests societal costs of road trauma as a result of animal collisions are approximately $7 billion per year (from their website).    The Canberra area is a hot spot with 500 to 600 animal collision claims each year spiking in winter collisions. AAMI Insurance analysis from 2023 states that road accidents involving wildlife have an average cost of an insurance claim between $5500 and $6400 with around 1 in 7 vehicles being written off (website below).  You can see the death toll of wildlife mounting on the Monaro Highway in winter with extremely heavy traffic during the days and speeding traffic during the night.
