In the  village of Trien in Co. Roscommon, many  members of the Community Council,  Residents and Parents  have  voiced their worries to me regarding the speed of vehicles. 

The road leading through Trien is frequented by both commuters and local traffic, making it imperative to implement effective measures to reduce speed. The installation of speed ramps is an accessible and direct solution that has proven success in numerous communities globally, ensuring drivers slow down and pay attention. 

Statistics from reputable sources reveal that speed ramps can reduce accidents by up to 40%. In areas like ours, where the safety of pedestrians, especially children, is non-negotiable, this reduction could prevent potential tragedies and enhance the village. 

i am calling on Roscommon County Council to recognize the urgent need for speed ramps in Trien Village and to prioritize this initiative.  I will be raising the issue at our next Municipal District Meeting and I will be seeking funding for these ramps under a  safety scheme.
