Councillor Woodward has confirmed that the work to install the Toucan crossing on Hound Road should commence on 24th June and should take approx. 5 weeks. During this time I have been assured that the contractor will provide a temporary crossing point to assist pedestrians in crossing, including a drop kerb or ramp for disabled users. The contractor will work restricted hours from 9am to 4.30pm Mon to Fri, and during this time there may be temporary traffic lights in use. There may also be some weekend work to ensure the work is completed on schedule. There may obviously be some minor disruption to traffic along Hound Way while this work is carried out, but I think we can all agree that it will be worth it to get a safe crossing in place at long last.
