Small update!
There was a meeting at the reserve where the concerns about the reserve were discussed. (Water quality, rubbish dumping, fishing, among other things)
There were wires volunteers, residents of the surrounding houses, council representitives and the Campbelltown city counsil Deputy Mayor, who is very passionate about the wildlife and environment in campbelltown in attendance aswell as a couple other people.
Since this meeting in October 2025 there has been some changes made, for example:
● New silver seats have been installed, for people to admire the lovely view of the pond.
● New signs have been installed, which is great because we needed an updated one. But the problem is, they forgot to mention the "no fishing" part. (The main reason for the meeting) -the old signs with no fishing on them still exist but theyre pretty faded and theres very few of them-
- Though they did have another meeting at Eaglevale reserve I beleive so they may have forgotten. (Explains it, doesnt excuse it though. We needed the no fishing part in particular.)
● from the looks of things there has also been some weeds + invasive plants removed. Which is great!
Another email has been sent to organise a follow up meeting to revise and re-evaluate what still needs change etc. Will post anothet Update once I have more information!
In the mean time please keep sharing this petition, and if you see people fishing, maybe politely advise them that its Illegal at this reserve! And they could cop a hefty fine if caught.
