The issue

During school hours at Lourdes College, I've witnessed students walking long distances across campus just to refill their water bottles. This inconvenience not only affects students but also faculty and visitors, who increasingly find it challenging to stay hydrated during their daily routines.

Lourdes College, with its commitment to providing a conducive learning environment, must now address this crucial need for easy access to clean drinking water. The World Health Organization emphasizes the importance of adequate hydration for cognitive function and overall health, particularly in educational settings. Yet, at present, the limited number of water refilling stations on our campus falls short of meeting the demands of the entire college community.

Increasing the number of water refilling stations across campus can lead to numerous benefits. Not only will it promote better health and wellness among students, but it can also contribute to reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles, aligning with our college's sustainability goals. According to the Water Project, access to drinking water is a fundamental human right that supports academic success and well-being.

Placing additional stations strategically in high-traffic areas, such as near libraries and major academic buildings, will ensure that everyone at Lourdes College can easily access clean water without significant disruption to their schedule. This is a practical, cost-effective solution that supports our campus's green initiatives.

It's time to make water accessibility a top priority and demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship and the well-being of our community. By signing this petition, you are advocating for enhanced hydration opportunities and supporting our college's mission to foster a healthy, sustainable learning environment. Let's make a positive change together—sign this petition and help bring more water refilling stations to our beloved campus.
