La causa

I am the parent of a nonverbal autistic son. Ever since he was just six years old, I worried about what might have happened to make him refuse to attend school. Despite my attempts to understand, I never received any clear answers. He stopped smiling in his last year of 5th grade, and all I received were phone calls mentioning vague behaviors. Yet, when I requested a detailed report, I was met with refusal from the principal. This year, we made the difficult decision to homeschool our child due to the lack of security in Nevada schools.

For parents like me, whose children cannot speak for themselves, the lack of transparency in schools is terrifying. We deserve to know that our children are safe and respected. Students with disabilities are especially vulnerable, and it's heartbreaking to hear frequent stories of abuse or neglect that go unaddressed. Without clear evidence, these incidents remain unresolved, leaving students and their families in distress.

It is crucial to implement cameras in all classrooms across Nevada. These cameras would serve as a crucial tool, providing an objective record of what happens during school hours. They can help ensure that incidents are dealt with appropriately, providing reassurance to parents and accountability for schools.

Other states have already taken measures to protect their most vulnerable children by installing cameras in special education classrooms. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over 13% of students in the U.S. have disabilities, a significant proportion that deserves our utmost protection and care.

Having cameras in classrooms would not only protect students but also support teachers by validating their efforts, preventing false accusations, and ensuring a safe learning environment for all. This transparent solution fosters trust and peace of mind for families and educators alike.

I urge you to join me in the fight for safer schools in Nevada by signing this petition. Let's ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, has a safe and supportive learning environment. Sign this petition now to demand immediate action and protect the rights and well-being of students with disabilities across Nevada.
