Again, thank you for bringing this concern to my attention regarding traffic safety at the intersection of River Birch Drive and S. LHS Drive in Lumberton.

We have confirmed that turning movement counts were collected at River Birch Drive, previously. Given the level of interest and the time that has passed, we believe it is appropriate to collect new turning movement counts to ensure the analysis reflects current conditions. This also allow us to validate consistency with the prior data.

TxDOT is actively reviewing this intersection. This review includes analyzing current traffic conditions, recent crash history, and how traffic operates in the area, particularly in relation to nearby school access and existing traffic signals.

This has been elevated as a priority, and staff anticipates having formal documentation with findings and recommendations by mid‑February.

We appreciate the community’s interest in roadway safety and will continue to coordinate with local stakeholders.
