I’m incredibly proud to announce that stop signs at Pennsylvania Avenue & Goshorn Street have officially been installed! You now have to stop both ways at the intersection and they’ve added paint lines as well. This is a major win for our community and it happened because people like you took the time to sign, support, share and speak up. I did NOT do this alone. YOU made the difference. & If you didn’t this time, maybe you will tomorrow now that you know just how powerful YOUR voice is. This is what community action looks like.
Residents, i know there were some concerns about people not paying attention to the stop signs. I’d like to reguarly touch base & make sure that these are helping your community. IF they do not, please contact me and we will collectively push for more extreme measures to be taken. For now, i’m incredibly thankful for what they’ve done and the steps that they’ve taken to make this community safer.
To the City Of South Charleston & the housing authority.. I want to personally thank everyone involved who made this happen. You listened to your community & showed up and out for them, quietly. From the person who seen our petition, the one who decided this was a true need, to the employee that installed it & went the extra mile with paint.. We see you & you are very much so appreciated.
To some people it’ll always be just a couple of stop signs and some paint.. but for me and everyone involved who made this happen? This was a win. A big one. For me, that spot will forever hold significance and be ingrained in my mind however now i’ll at least be able to know that not only did we make a difference, but so did he.
Thank you South Charleston & anyone who stood with us. Yesterday, we made meaningful change and not that it means much but i’m so proud of us. 💚
