Dear Supporters,

I trust this message finds you in good spirits. Today, I am honoured to share with you poignant reflections from members of our community that reached out to me to underscore the profound importance of our cause.

In the words of a parent who faced the challenging decision to withdraw their child from Highland Park Elementary, "If a child is left isolated during recess and lunch while their peers engage in problem-solving, relationship-building, and social skill development, they risk falling behind in crucial areas, with heightened vulnerability to depression and diminished motivation to excel."

Similarly, another family shared a deeply personal account of their child's exclusion from playground activities due to inaccessible facilities, leading to serious injuries and the difficult decision to pursue homeschooling.

These narratives stand in stark contrast to recent assertions made by a PAC executive regarding the allocation of funds for playground equipment. While referencing an existing "accessible" playground, it is essential to recognize that its exclusivity to Kindergarten students and inadequate accessibility features highlight the urgent need for more inclusive planning in our community.

This reinforces the imperative of our cause. Every child deserves equitable access to enriching social experiences and opportunities for personal growth within their educational environment. Your unwavering support for our petition serves as a beacon of hope and advocacy, urging our school administration, PAC executive, and School District 42 to reconsider their decisions. Together, we champion the original vision of raising $165,000 through donations and grants to construct a playground that embraces inclusivity and safety for all.

Thank you for your steadfast commitment to fostering a more compassionate and equitable future for our children. Your dedication inspires us to persevere in our collective pursuit of positive change.

With sincere gratitude,

Jen
