Update 9.15.25: "The district does not plan to pursue formal board policy additions..."

Unfortunately,  Eanes ISD has issued the following response to our request that they put the rights and protections guaranteed in Section 504 and IDEA in writing:

"The district does not plan to pursue formal board policy additions that restate or codify the rights and protections already established through IDEA, Section 504, and applicable state and federal law. It is not the district’s practice to create local policy that overrides, duplicates, or supersedes the legal requirements established by those governing authorities."

I am disappointed, but taking this "no" as a "not yet".  I will continue to collect signatures, and will be speaking at the upcoming 9.22 Board of Trustees meeting (and every possible meeting after that, for as long as is necessary to get this done). I won't stop advocating for this crucial policy addition until the answer is a "yes".
