In America, we provide protections and opportunities to common criminals, including those who cross our borders illegally. Some of these individuals are allowed to commit crimes such as theft, rape, and even murder, accumulating hundreds of prior arrests with no meaningful consequences, leaving taxpayers to shoulder the burden because many of them lack the means to pay. Yet, when it comes to law abiding, middle class citizens accused of violating the so called “rule of law,” the government operates like a dictatorship, exploiting its power to serve its own interests. The government is allowed to fabricate or manipulate evidence to secure convictions when it fits their narrative or advances their agenda regardless of whether the accused is truly guilty.

These individuals and their families are often destroyed, stripped of their dignity, and left to endure unimaginable suffering. Many, like my daughter Elizabeth, are victims themselves. Elizabeth worked tirelessly to earn her professional credentials, only to have others exploit her licensure to enrich themselves without her knowledge. When the government targeted her, they found her to be an easier scapegoat than the true criminals, who had already protected their assets and accepted plea deals. These individuals, in turn, testified against Elizabeth to fit the government’s narrative. Using unethical tactics, manipulation, and misconduct, the government convinced a jury to convict her. As a result, Elizabeth was sentenced to 20 years in prison, torn away from her young children.

Adding to this injustice, the government claims she “voluntarily” offered her home to them, even though this home is the only source of stability her children have left. This is not justice it is pure abuse. Elizabeth poured her blood, sweat, and tears into building a life for her children, even naming the corporation she formed to purchase the home “Blood Sweat and Tears.” Despite her sacrifices, the government is now preparing to seize this home, toss its contents into the street, and leave her children homeless all to make a profit.

Is this truly necessary? Haven’t these innocent children suffered enough from the loss of their mother? This level of cruelty is something we associate with oppressive regimes not with America, a country built on justice and fairness. It is time to stop destroying innocent families and start holding the government accountable for its actions.
