🚨 URGENT MESSAGE: UNACCEPTABLE TREATMENT AT MIAMI FDC
I cannot stay silent about the appalling treatment of visitors at the Miami Federal Detention Center (FDC), a situation that is sadly becoming all too common. Yesterday, myself and approximately 30 other family members, including an attorney who had a scheduled appointment with an inmate, experienced firsthand the complete lack of respect and transparency from the guards.
We were all gathered for over 45 minutes, eagerly awaiting our turn to see our loved ones, when a guard emerged and began returning our driver's licenses without a word of explanation or eye contact. Confusion and frustration mounted as we were left standing there, clueless about what was happening.
It wasn't until the attorney, who happened to witness the entire situation, confronted the guard and demanded an explanation that we were informed, in the most callous manner, that visitation was cancelled. No further details were provided, leaving us bewildered and utterly devastated.
The most heartbreaking part of this ordeal was witnessing my four-year-old granddaughter's reaction. She, like many other children, looks forward to seeing her mother every weekend and even counts down the days. When she learned that she wouldn't be able to see her mommy, her screams and tears pierced through the air, highlighting the immense emotional toll these unjust actions have on innocent children.
For me personally, the journey to visit my daughter at the Miami FDC entails a grueling five-hour round trip every Sunday. To have that effort met with such disrespect and disregard is beyond disheartening.
This mistreatment is not only unjust but also hypocritical in a country that prides itself on principles of justice and fairness. We teach our children to stand up against bullies, yet we are being bullied by those who wield power and control over us.
This cannot continue. We demand accountability, transparency, and respect for the rights and dignity of visitors at the Miami FDC. Let's come together to ensure that incidents like this are addressed and prevented in the future. Our families deserve better.
Ps I would like to personally thank the attorney that was present for standing up for us.
