The Turner Prize is named after a figurative painter and should be for figurative paintings. It has been hijacked for "new media" on the basis that Turner was an innovator, but Turner did not use the new media of his day - photography. He continued to paint. 

The Tate should also set up a new award, The Rubbish Prize, where people can nominate dirty beds, dead sharks, empty rooms with lights going on and off, and chastity belts.
