I received an incredibly thoughtful response from Buddy Nichols, filmmaker, historian, and a key figure at the Skateboarding Hall of Fame.
Buddy took the time to acknowledge this effort and shared heartfelt words about Cesinha — not only as a skater, but as a human being who left a lasting mark on everyone around him.
He spoke about knowing Cesinha both in Brazil and Los Angeles, remembering him as a passionate skater, a true advocate for skateboarding, and someone whose contributions are legendary. Hearing this from someone who has documented skateboarding culture deeply reinforces what we already know: Cesinha’s legacy deserves to be honored at the highest level.
Buddy also clarified that the nomination list we’ve seen is not final, and that more names — including Cesinha — will continue to be added in the coming years... He worked extensively in Love Letters to Skateboarding – including the segment about Cesinha in the Brazil episode in season 10 (see link below).
Buddy's confidence that Cesinha is on track for induction is both encouraging and appreciated. Nevertheless, Cesinha’s impact is already undeniable, and this campaign exists to make sure his induction happens sooner rather than later.
So, let’s keep pushing.
Let’s keep telling Cesinha’s story while we have this momentum — not out of impatience, but out of respect for a lifetime dedicated to skateboarding and a legacy that deserves to be honored.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this movement so far — and thank you, Buddy, for your kindness and recognition of Cesinha’s importance.
Keep sharing!
