Save the Gili Islands work horses from daily cruelty

In Bali and on nearby islands, horse-drawn carriages are seen as tourist attractions. However, what might seem like harmless entertainment is a harsh reality for the horses. They suffer daily exposure to noise and pollution, heavy traffic, hard pavements, hot sun, long hours and constant heavy loads. They don’t have access to pasture and often have inadequate food, water and medication.
They are beaten, worked for extremely long days and don't get a rest from the heavy carriage they have to pull. There are examples on surrounding islands where they use electric environmentally friendly golf-type buggies instead.
If you are visiting, then please do not fund this cruelty by paying for a taxi ride and please help by signing this petition.
These vulnerable animals do not have anyone else to help them.
