I’ve been sleeping in extended stay, airbnbs and my car for 8 months, denied justice at every turn — and now, with less than 10 days left to appeal, I’m still getting ignored.
The courts won’t respond.
Legal aid keeps saying “we’re full.”
Even when I submitted final evidence — they refused to file it. All the Indiana Attorneys are saying say thing we can’t help you.
Every place I’ve applied to live has declined me or want me to pay crazy amounts down for a mild dew and or ran down living conditions because of this case. Knowing I make enough money and seeing my credit is going down from inquiring for places. They’re holding my application fees and services fees. $50-$250 that’s each app ! A pastor even offered me a space to stay — but only after asking for a favor tied to his program at my school through someone I know but It felt like fake support. But I inner-stood being a black man he has to conform to the government and pay how he weighs. So he needed to be able to come and cut hair a few days a week there while me and my son rented it vs helping a brother, he’s not the only one. People post “prayers” say anything but then disappear. Meanwhile, I’ve watched dogs and dead people get more love than me — a living Black educator just trying to survive.
I haven’t done anything wrong. I just spoke up when I was freezing in my apartment with no heat. I followed the law. I filed evidence. I told the truth.
And now they’re trying to erase me.
I’m fighting for my life and my son.
Not just for housing — but for dignity.
