There is currently a national wide issue, of school bus stop arm violations. Recently, Indiana, sadly experienced fatalities, due to this very issue.  The devastation that can occur from passing a school bus stop arm, not only affects the potential victim, but their family, and the entire community. Driving is a privilege, not a right. From my own experience as a school bus driver, I have dealt with this issue on multiple occasions. I have fellow colleagues that have experienced school bus stop arm violations on multiple occasions as well. Currently, driving within the State of Indiana, without insurance, is an automatic suspension of driver's license. The current repercussion for a school bus stop arm violation is a hefty fine, with the possibility of suspension of drivers license. I would like to see the law be changed to an automatic suspension of driver's license for disregarding a school bus's stop arm. I firmly believe this will help encourage a solution, and raise awareness to the importance of stopping for a school bus while children are loading or unloading. I believe this may not only help save lives, but prevent families and communities from experiencing unnecessary tragedies that are 100% preventable. We all have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other people that are very near and dear to our heart. We all must go to school,  therefore,  we all could be potential victims!
